After having spent my entire life writing in a diary, using words to express myself, I didn't see myself ever holding a pencil, paint brush or a canvas. On the day my father died, I had a strange sighting. My older brother picked up a paint brush; something he had not done in 20 years - since our mother passed away. I didn't see it as a sign that maybe our lives were about to change for the better.

Three weeks after Dad's funeral, I got the urge to sketch a drawing of a friend. In 3 days, I had become intrigued by my potential and wanted to pursue it. Within 3 months, I had completed 12 pieces of artwork, all of which are displayed here.

I have always seen myself as a writer. I've always seen myself as a careful, childlike and jovial girl with no worries and no drama. I never saw myself as a painter, sketch artist or visual arts enthusiast. But now, (sigh), I don't see my life without it.
